Metal Mania: A place for metalheads

Are you a metalhead? Well this board is for you. First off, my top five bands are Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Six Feet Under, Obituary, and Devildriver. Let's talk about Cannibal Corpse. Cannibal Corpse started in 1988 in Buffalo, New York with the vocalist Chris Barns. Coming from the band Obituary, Chris decided to put his first demo album out in 1989 called A Skull full of maggots demo. Finally once signed by metal blade records, he created corpse's first album in 1991, butchered at Birth. The rest of the albums created were tomb of the mutilated, eaten back to life, Meat Hook Sodomy, the bleeding, and last but not least, created to kill demo album. Hailing from Baltimore, Maryland from a band called Monstrosity, George Corpsegrinder Fisher took Chris's place. The rest of the members weren't satisfyed with the musical direction Chris had the band going. Chris liked to write about satanism, cannibalism, rape, torture, killing, and different types of violence. Corpsegrinder, however, writes about these things, but he says people shouldn't be bitching about it because it is the zombies that are doing it all. George's first album was vile followed by Gallery of Suicide, Monolith of Death, bloodthirst, live cannibalism, gore obsessed, live and wacken, worm infested, a box set 15 year killing spree, the wretched spawn, and Kill. They should have a new album coming out in later 2008 probably around Thanksgiving. George is a better death metal vocalist in my opinion. He says he doesn't use any mahines, his voice has been hoarse since he was a little boy, and he is a strong world of warcrafts fan. Some of his hobbies are watching wrestling, hanging out with his family, and of course his singing. Some of his favorite bands are Markub, Deicide, Dark Funeral, Distruction, Pissing Razors, Sodium, Slayer, and many more. If you never heard of them before, I would strongly recommend you checking out this band. If you like gore filled lyrics, then this your band.

My favorites would be seether, silent civillian, staind, though i don't think they'd be metal really, I Am Ghost, All That Remains, and Disturbed, really in no particular order.

Post 3 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Sunday, 14-Sep-2008 17:19:43

Interesting topic. Pissing Razors? Are you serious? I'll have to look them up.

Post 5 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Monday, 22-Sep-2008 23:01:12

CC sucks big ones! All that remains, demon hunter, as i lay dying, august burns red, shadows fall, and kittie all rule!

Post 6 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Tuesday, 23-Sep-2008 15:43:57

Kittie? wow. O well, their is a band called Sick Puppies.

Post 7 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Saturday, 27-Sep-2008 18:12:34

Sick puppies isn't metal though. Though there pretty good. Others that are good are burning the masses, burning skies, origin, opeth, otep, and chimaira!

Post 8 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Saturday, 27-Sep-2008 20:06:54

No, I don't like August Burns Red, and I agree that Cannibal Corpse sucks too, so some of my favorites are Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, Chimaira, Silent Civilian, Slipknot, Children OF Bodom, and Pantera. There are probably others which I can't think of right now, so I'll post them later if I do.

Post 9 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Saturday, 27-Sep-2008 21:01:06

All that remains, killswitchengage, and chimaira all rule! I still think August burns red's good. Dragonforce's awesome!

Post 10 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Sunday, 28-Sep-2008 6:56:17

True true. Dragonforce is awesome. I only like one song by Kill Switch Engage, and that is "the end of heartache". I took a look for more stuff by them on itunes, but I didn't find anything else that even sounded interesting. I'll check out Chimera though. Most of the metal that Dez has, I usually end up liking.

Post 11 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Sunday, 28-Sep-2008 9:16:50

My favorite KSE songs are the end of heartache, breathe life, the arms of sorrow, as daylight dies, my curse, and reject yourself! Anyone like archenemy or Kittie?

Post 12 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Sunday, 28-Sep-2008 10:57:30

Arch enemy, I only have heard one song from them, "enter the machine". I looked at Chimaira, and I think I'll get "the Flame". Any good songs by them I should check out? I'll take a look at those Kill Switch songs.

Post 13 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Sunday, 28-Sep-2008 13:31:49

My favorite song by Chimaira is Inside the Horror. Another Killswitch song I like is their cover of Holy Diver, it doesn't get any better than that! And Arch Enemy, I heard a couple songs by them, but I can't remember what they were called right now.

Post 14 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Sunday, 28-Sep-2008 21:32:22

Holy diver's bad ass! My favorite AE songs are Carry the cross, dead buiry there dead, ravinous, nemesis, burning angel, and blood on your hands just to name a few.
As some of you may know, or not, Kittie is an all girl metal band that rules! My favs by them are witchhunt, the change, mouthful of poison, oricle, and there cover of run like hell! (Done originally by pink floid) I like Kittie's vertion better!

Post 15 by Nitara (Veteran Zoner) on Thursday, 09-Oct-2008 10:01:27

Some of my favorite metal bands are Fear Factory, Static-X, Type O Negative, The Murderdolls, Wednesday 13, Darkseed, and Beseech.

Post 16 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Thursday, 09-Oct-2008 21:58:17

Good ones. Go check out demon hunter!

Post 17 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Thursday, 09-Oct-2008 22:20:01

True, true, go do it. Especialy their album "Storm The Gates Of Hell."

Post 18 by Nitara (Veteran Zoner) on Thursday, 09-Oct-2008 23:07:41

Yeah, Demon Hunter's pretty cool to. The only album I have by them is the Triptych.

Post 19 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Friday, 10-Oct-2008 15:47:57

You need to get storm the gates of hell! And, there new 3 disc dvd/cd called 45 days coming out on November 25!

Post 20 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Friday, 10-Oct-2008 18:20:39

The triptych is good as well. The only album I didn't like by them was "Summer Of Darkness" except for "My Heartstrings Come Undone".

Post 21 by Nitara (Veteran Zoner) on Friday, 10-Oct-2008 20:46:18

Yes, that is a great song. I don't have the album it's on, but it's on the Resident Evil Apocalypse soundtrack.

Post 22 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Saturday, 11-Oct-2008 13:15:51

I love all there albums! Everyone keeps saying that Summer of Darkness sucked, except for the (Hunters) There loyal fand base.
I'm a hunter for life! Can't wait for the new cd/dvd!

Post 23 by the icon (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 11-Oct-2008 15:14:35

wow! i've gotta give some of these guys a look! hey have any of you heard the song this fire burns by killswitch engage? its pretty cool. i like most of these, as well as enter shikari, bleeding through, alter bridge but i don't know if they are metal, sonata artica, and probs a load more i can't think of.

Post 24 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Saturday, 11-Oct-2008 23:24:27

Alterbridge. Definitly a good band. I just started listening to some stuff by slipknot, the only two songs I have by them are "Snuff", and "Psykosocial".

Post 25 by shadow of john (Veteran Zoner) on Monday, 13-Oct-2008 16:43:19

favourite bands. Pantera, Dream theater, opeth, would tool be classified as metal? KSE, and of course, Shadows fall (jason bidman is an awesom drummer!)

Post 26 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Saturday, 18-Oct-2008 11:41:01

Its Jason Bitner, and heck yah he is! If I'm on the right drum set, I can do the light that blinds. Love that song!
Opeth is good.

Post 27 by Mumbledore (... procrastinating again. i meant to write this days ago.) on Sunday, 07-Dec-2008 10:45:23

ok... first off, i don't understand the concept of christian death metal. how the fuck can you sing about christianity in a genre that's all about satanism and death and the like.
ok now i've said that:
cannible corpse, great band. need to get more of there stuff.
also, respect to bodom! fuck yeah!
o and people, check out some bands like ensiferum, turisas, wintersun, and amon amarth. they're viking metal bands. really fucking good.

Post 28 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Sunday, 07-Dec-2008 16:41:39

Does it really matter, what kind it is? I'm a fan of demon hunter and they are a chritian metal band. What does it matter what genere they are? explain that to me.

Post 29 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Sunday, 07-Dec-2008 16:49:14

It matters because when death metal, or black metal was created, its purpose was to express stuff like satanism. So for Christians to suddenly take it over and try to change the meaning of the whole genre is kind of backwards. If a metal band is truly happy with what they do, they wouldn't bother with labeling themselves. They'd just say, "we're fucking good and we know it!" and do their own thing. But if you really want to classify the different types of metal, then christian metal should be its own genre, the same way Christian rock is.

Post 30 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Sunday, 07-Dec-2008 16:51:16

I think that their isn't one now, because its really never been done before.

Post 31 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Sunday, 07-Dec-2008 17:03:02

True, but sooner or later that's gonna be what's "in", and people are gonna think it's so cool. Eventually I'm sure it will be made into its own category.

Post 32 by Mumbledore (... procrastinating again. i meant to write this days ago.) on Sunday, 07-Dec-2008 18:05:43

i never said there was anything wrong with christian metal. i said i didn't understand the concept of christianizing a genre that is about death and satan. o and agreed screaming turtle.

Post 33 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Friday, 02-Jan-2009 2:36:37

I can see what you mean. It shouldn't matter the style of metal but its the lyrics that count! I love hardcore but prefer to not hear about killings, rape or hatred of mankind or God. Just my opinion. And AA's awesome! Anyone on here like Otep? She's brutal as F!

Post 34 by charrington (Zone BBS is my Life) on Friday, 02-Jan-2009 23:51:26

Check Becoming The Arcatype out... They're Crazy.

Post 35 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Saturday, 03-Jan-2009 16:25:49

I love them! I want there new album bad! Anyone here like Amon Amarth? Viking metal's cool!

Post 36 by Mumbledore (... procrastinating again. i meant to write this days ago.) on Monday, 05-Jan-2009 9:01:53

yeah, viking metal is awesome. i have loads of it. amon amarth, turisas, ensiferum, korpiklani, folkearth... the list goes on.

Post 37 by renegade rocker (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 05-Jan-2009 13:23:58

There are just so many bands I've got in the collection. Check out exodus, nuclear assault, death angel, atrophy, old school sepultura, meaning their first four albums. There's more, like sacrifice, vio-lence, napalm death, kreator, deathrow, gorguts, deeds of flesh, vital remains, hate eternal, malevolent creation, celtic frost, incubus...not the band who put out albums like a crow left of the murder, rather the death metal band from florida, check out the album beyond the unknown.

Post 38 by renegade rocker (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 05-Jan-2009 14:05:24

There's more, like death, severe torture, flotsam and jetsam, forbidden, krabathor, monstrosity, broken hope, deaden, and many more!

Post 39 by renegade rocker (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 05-Jan-2009 14:59:07

Just try to stop me now that I'm on a roll! More groups like exciter, despair, serpent obscene, gothic slam, bound and gagged, infernal majesty, primal fear, invocator, the project hate, ayreon, I can go on of course!

Post 40 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Monday, 05-Jan-2009 21:23:27

Or, check out the bands feast eternal, crimson thorn, crimson moonlight, obliteration, bloodlined clligraphy, or afterforever! Check them out!

Post 41 by the illusive man (my ISP would be out of business if it wasn't for this haven I live at) on Monday, 19-Jan-2009 22:13:28

chimaira, kill switch engage, kill whitney dead, neuraxis, otep, impending doom, six feet under, winds of plague, and so much more!

Post 42 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Tuesday, 20-Jan-2009 8:06:51

Not sure if I'll look up all of these I don't know some of their names just don't interest me not that they sound so dark but just that hmm it seems like their making their band name sound so angry that its making me not want to. Ok, that made no sense whatsoever screw it, I'll go look some of them up. I just think I'm looking too hard at their names, not their music. I thought that slipknot was a band that I'd never like, and look at it now, I've got two of their songs on my ipod. Ok, I'm done with my non sense making ramblings.

Post 43 by the illusive man (my ISP would be out of business if it wasn't for this haven I live at) on Saturday, 24-Jan-2009 19:33:07

Don't forget metallika!

Post 44 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Sunday, 25-Jan-2009 11:39:53

I was never a fan of classic rock, so I think I will forget them. Don't like their new stuff either same with Guns 'n Roses.

Post 45 by the illusive man (my ISP would be out of business if it wasn't for this haven I live at) on Monday, 02-Feb-2009 21:24:48

i'm not really a fan of gun n roses either.

Post 46 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 22-Mar-2009 20:06:52

Favorite bands include those Canadien Metal Vixens of Kittie, Fear Factory, DevilDriver, Metallica (all their stuff - yeah I know i must be one of the only person who does) Otep, and a bunch others. For those of you fans of Thrash and or death metal you may want to check out Thine Eyes Bleed, and Nothing Left for Tommorrow, 2 canadien metal bands with ties to Kittie. I still think the first major Slipknot release (the one with "spit it out" and "wait and bleed") is their best work though I haven't heard all hope is lost yet. Also the KSE song that CM Punk uses as his entrance Theme is my favorite, Not a big fan of hair metal so don't like either version of Holy Diver

Post 47 by the illusive man (my ISP would be out of business if it wasn't for this haven I live at) on Thursday, 23-Jul-2009 16:56:08

neuraxis is also a great band

Post 48 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Thursday, 23-Jul-2009 22:24:55

Egypt Central and dead by april are two more bands that are excellent.

Post 49 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Friday, 24-Jul-2009 18:16:00
